Meghalaya guidelines
Note for Meghalaya:
• Rooms and vehicle are strictly subjected to availability at the time of final confirmation only.
• Even though hotels categorize rooms under one name but size and amenities may differ from each other. Hotels in this region has queen size bed in normal rooms while only few hotels have king size bed and that too in the highest category of rooms.
• Meghalaya being a Christian majority states on Sundays markets or other places of interest might remain close or operated with limited capacity
• All expenses of the driver such as his allowances, parking, toll etc are included in the tour cost and guest need not pay for this.
• Adjacent rooms/Rooms in the same floor will be strictly subjected to allotment by Hotel staff at time of Check in only. Room size is standard size and cannot be compared to other properties in other parts of the country considering the limitations in construction on hilly terrain.
Shillong being a Capital City, most rooms will have road/city view only. Only few properties are in outskirts with valley/hill view.
• Drivers are well trained and will not hesitate to take guests to sightseeing points mentioned but any extra sightseeing if requested by guests following suggestion from friends/web portals are subjected to viability that is fully dependent on the driver as they have better knowledge on the same.
• The food in hilly region are to be carried from the plains and so there is less abundance of the same and also the taste might differ from regular cuisines found in other parts of the country.
• Due to low rains in the region and other maintenance issues, Shillong and Cherrapunjee has 3 hour load shedding from 12AM to 3AM in all locations. Hotels may provide emergency lights for that period. Power backup in each property is strictly a per hotel policy only.
• Considering the climate of Meghalaya AC is not required and so most hotels do not have AC equipped in their rooms. Most hotels in Shillong and All Hotels in Cherrapunjee including the premium properties have Non AC rooms.
